Opal is a well-established, family-owned, independent publishing house in Sweden. We publish books for children and young adults with a clear quality profile, both fiction and non-fiction, illustrated and text-only. Each year Opal publishes approximately 50 new titles.
The publishing house was founded in 1973 and is located in Stockholm. We publish a number of translations each year, but the main focus has for a long time been Swedish originals. Vox by Opal, an imprint with focus on YA literature, was founded in 2017.
Opal Agency represent the translation rights for books published by Bokförlaget Opal, Vox by Opal and Berghs förlag.
Through our long experience, we have connections from all over the world, and the books in our catalogue have been translated into a wide range of languages. We sell license deals, but also arrange co-production of our titles.
